Product Overview
12-inch vinyl / Includes 3 collectible trading cards (from 24 total designs)
In 2024, Takashi Murakami—renowned contemporary artist—presented his first solo exhibition in Japan in eight years, Takashi Murakami: Mononoke Kyoto, at the Kyoto City KYOCERA Museum of Art.
For the exhibition, Murakami teamed up with rapper JP THE WAVY to form the special unit MNNK Bro., releasing the theme track “Mononoke Kyoto,” previously only playable at the exhibition. Murakami actively contributed to the music production and recording, creating a sound unique from JP THE WAVY’s earlier work.
The vinyl’s cover art, designed by Murakami, depicts both artists’ characters atop Kyoto-inspired cherry blossoms. Each copy also comes with three exclusive trading cards, randomly chosen from 24 designs (12 illustrations, each with Japanese and English versions). Originally launched for the exhibition, these highly sought-after cards make this release a true collector’s item.
