Product Overview

'Wars Of The Roses', Ulver's eighth album released originally in 2011, saw the band highly influenced by progressive rock music, whilst also incorporating elements of ambient, post-rock, and spoken word.

The album was recorded at Crystal Canyon Studios in Norway and was mixed by producer extraordinaire John Fryer (Depeche Mode, Cocteau Twins, Swans) and Jaime Gomez Arellano. The album was the first to feature British composer and multi-instrumentalist Daniel O'Sullivan (Æthenor, Guapo, Mothlite).

'Wars Of The Roses' received critical acclaim worldwide, entering the Norwegian national album charts at Number 17, based on sales from day one alone. This new mid-price CD edition is presented in digipack packaging complete with a 16-page booklet featuring lyrics. Kscope released two further new Ulver albums – 2012's legendary concert recording 'The Norwegian National Opera', and 2013's 'Messe I.X–VI.X' – a 6 track album featuring music commissioned by the Tromsø Kulturhus (House of Culture) in Norway, in cooperation with the Arctic Opera and Philharmonic Orchestra cultural institution. It was composed and first performed live by Ulver, alongside the Tromsø Chamber Orchestra on September 21st 2012. The band then took the recordings back to Oslo and spent winter and spring in post-production, honing the material for its studio-equivalent.
