The Great Intelligence – The Grid (Cassette, Album, Pink)

After an eon or so in the oven, the debut album from The Great Intelligence is here in the form of 'The Grid'.

Featuring 10 synthesiser-drenched tracks, this record rarely slows down as it warps between a flurry of sub-genres. From the pumping synth-punk of 'Lab Rat' to the new wave grooves of 'She's An Alien', or the Chugging Space-Rock of 'Space-Man' to the haunting warbles of the title track, there's something for everyone with an enthusiasm for electronics, rock music, and science fiction.

With a sound informed by a love of artists such as The B-52s, Ausmuteants, Kraftwerk, Stereolab, CAN, and of course DEVO, The Great Intelligence is the brain child of Joe Carrucan. Starting the project soon after moving to Naarm/Melbourne from Eora/Sydney, he spent the next few years writing, recording and overcoming a bad case of demo-itis to craft this debut, enlisting a handful of local collaborators to see it through to the end.
