Australia’s premier instrumental ensemble Surprise Chef synthesizes classic funk and R&B with inspiration drawn from ‘60s and ’70s Italian Giallo cinema scores. Driven by the creative power of small-combo constraints, their music is compositionally precise yet inviting, evoking a warm, well-worn Stax sound bed. The band features Lachlan Stuckey (guitar), Jethro Curtin (keys), Carl Lindeberg (bass), Andrew Congues (drums), who together craft an expressive, original sound of their own.
