The Sound in San Francisco: Live at Keystone Korner captures saxophone icon Stan Getz with his quartet of pianist Joanne Brackeen, bassist Clint Houston and drummer Billy Hart, along with the legendary Brazilian vocalist/guitarist João Gilberto, live at the Keystone Korner in San Francisco in May 1976. This is the first time the music of the quartet with Gilberto is available on vinyl.
The limited-edition 180g 3LP set was mastered from the original tapes by George Klabin and Fran Gala with lacquers cut by Bernie Grundman at Bernie Grundman Mastering in Hollywood, CA, and pressed at Quebec's boutique audiophile pressing plant Le Vinylist. The elaborate booklet features many rare images by Tom Copi who photographed the week of shows at the Keystone Korner, and includes liner notes by acclaimed author James Gavin and jazz scholar and journalist Ted Panken, plus interviews with Joanne Brackeen and Billy Hart, statements by producers Zev Feldman and Todd Barkan, and Stan Getz’s son, Steve Getz, and more. Mastered by Matthew Lutthans at the Mastering Lab in Salina, KS and pressed at the boutique audiophile plant Le Vinylist in Quebec.
