"Desert is not a physical place: it is a state of mind. Dead Meadow invite us to follow them through its boundless spaces without indicating the path, but only the goal: the freedom hiding where Sun disappears. To reach it you need to free your mind from every day aridity on the notes of a so grainy blues, that it is refracted in psychedelic flashes. The desert imagined by the band has got the evanescent contours of a cloud of smoke exhaled by Dinosaur Jr (the independent noise roots of the Washington DC band appear in every song despite the trio has always proudly distinguished itself in the city post hardcore scene). But it is above all the most dusty American folk that makes the rainbow drawn by the band so rich in shades. With the lightness of the sand that lets itself be carried away by the wind, after it has been crumbled away from the rocks, Dead Meadow ask us to abandon ourselves to the desert, and to lose ourselves in it with them."
