The Last Wave Of Summer is Cold Chisel’s sixth studio album, released in 1998, following the band’s decision to work together again after 14 years apart. While the band’s reputation continued to grow throughout the 1980s and early 1990s, this album marked their full return as a recording unit.
The album debuted at number one on the ARIA Albums Chart with over 100,000 advance orders and reflected a band that had evolved without losing its defining spirit. Songwriting contributions came from across the group, with Don Walker providing much of the material and other members delivering key songs that broadened the album’s scope. It's an album often cited by Jimmy Barnes as his favourite Cold Chisel album.
Originally released on CD only, The Last Wave Of Summer was not available on vinyl at the time. Its first vinyl release came later through the Cold Chisel box set, before finally being issued here as a standalone vinyl album.
