CLEWS – What's Not To Love? (Vinyl, LP, Album)

‘What’s Not To Love’? is an offering of joy, only sometimes adulterated by heartache and uncertainty. The songs stare our biggest life moments in the face - falling in love, trepidations about getting older, the last few years of being young women in the music industry, the years ahead of settling down and starting a family and still feeling like we need time to discover ourselves. The songs chart Lily’s fall into love, Grace’s mid-twenties independence, and both of us strengthening our bond as sisters. We wrote, recorded and released this album over the course of a year, and the world around us has become more and more steeped in changes we once would have considered absurd. American politics loom large over the culture, social media and AI shapeshift through the music industry, microtrends blur past with breakneck, algorithmic speed while the news cycle feels so terrible we don’t even know where to look. Amidst it all, Grace and I have noticed in ourselves the conflict that many artists are feeling around how to put beautiful art out into a noisy world. Somewhere along the path to making this album, we decided to double-down on how we were raised: that we’re all holding hands and climbing, when life gets tough we love harder.

Since they burst onto the scene with their 2018 debut ‘Museum’, CLEWS have released two beautiful EPs with strong editorial support from triple j and DSPs, launched their beloved podcast ‘Love Clews’ and performed headline tours of the UK, Europe and Australia. They have twice been a top 40 finalist in the renowned Vanda & Young songwriting competition, played at Tasmania’s Dark Mofo, VIVID Sydney, showcased at BIGSOUND and SXSW Sydney, supported DMA’S, Ocean Alley, Boy & Bear, Tash Sultana, Holy Holy, Albert Hammond Jr. (USA), LAUREL (UK), and have lent their harmonies to many triple j Like A Versions. In 2025, CLEWS independently released their debut album ‘What’s Not To Love?’

The sisters continue to invite a growing family of fans into their world of lyrically-sophisticated songs that mine themes of growing up, moving away, and learning to love.
