Californian indie rock band, Pavement’s debut studio album "Slanted and Enchanted" was originally released in 1992 and is often seen as a landmark for indie rock. The remarkable fusion of the noise, thrash, and pop ranked 199th on Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 greatest albums of all time list.
Pavement was the birth of two young college musicians with a collection of catchy, cryptic songs and a taste for peculiar sounds. Beneath "Slanted and Enchanted's" coils of raw distortion and screaming-for-the-hell-of-it, the album gets over on the strength of stellar songwriting and ingenious melodicism. Sometimes Steve Malkmus's sly, evocative word-games reveal genuine emotion, and sometimes they just pay tribute to his favourite bands. These songs are unconventional in a way that set the convention for bands that came after them.
