Don’t Take It To Heart explores the human condition and all its beauty, flaws and all. The debut is shaped by merci, mercy’s lived experience with relationships of all kinds: platonic, romantic and the one we have with ourselves.
Working with collaborators Chris Collins, Milku and Robby De Sa throughout this process, merci, mercy presents the truest version of herself across the record – well aware that sadness and happiness are two sides of one’s same coin, Don’t Take It To Heart is unafraid to mix fun in with darker tones.
merci, mercy has seen a standout year with the release of the shimmering self-worth anthem The Word Love and the unapologetic, bad-bitch banger Angel—which claimed the #1 spot as the most played song on triple j. She also wrapped a sold-out national tour, headlining packed rooms in both Sydney and Melbourne.
Earlier singles from the upcoming album, Cigarettes In The Dark and Unrecognisable, have drawn widespread praise from fans and media alike. Cigarettes In The Dark premiered on triple j, earned a highlight in Rolling Stone ANZ, and landed coveted placements on Spotify’s New Music Friday (AU/NZ), All New Pop (USA), Ultimate Pop Gaming, as well as Apple Music’s A-List Pop, Heaps Local, and New In Pop, among others.
